With regard to resort/neighborhood fees in Summit County:
Such fees are not common in Breckenridge.
These fees are fairly common in Keystone and are similar to Home Owners Association Dues or a Special Taxing District. They are typically an annual charge to the property owner and go toward, among other things, Common Area Maintenance of space shared between the residential and commercial real estate. The idea is that certain public spaces benefit both residential and commercial owners so the cost of maintaining this space is shared between them. Also, since many residential owners purchase resort real estate for rental income purposes, the existence of retail/restaurant space in close proximity to the residences is of benefit to the residential owner.Basically, this is a means by which residential owners help support the surrounding businesses. I realize that this all may seem a little strange and I will be better able to explain this matter when we discuss the differences between the local markets here.
