The Shops at Atlas Park Phase I
Glendale, New York

In 2001 Amenta & Co. conceived an adaptive reuse of Atlas Terminals, a 20-acre 1.0 million square foot 80-year old industrial park.  Phase 1 is 400,000 square feet, New York City’s first lifestyle shopping center and office park.  Amenta & Co. provided market, financial and physical feasibility: identified an underserved market of 42,000 residential families with annual incomes above $ 100,000; retail sales potential above $800 per square foot and configured the design to surround a 2.5-acre park as the focus for a mixed-use campus.

In 2003 Mr. Amenta formed A&Co., a development management partnership with the owner to direct design, leasing and construction of Phase and plan Phase II.  Phase I opened in 2006 with 26 national tenants including Regal Entertainment and Border’s Books and Music. Coldwater Creek, J. Jill, Chico’s, White House / Black Market, California Pizza Kitchen and 20 New York tenants including, New York Sports Club, Shiro of Japan, Stella Gialla and Pasticcio.
